1. UPDATED An update on Primary Care COVID-19 antibody testing
Antibody testing results will now be with the requestor in seven days from the sample being taken. If it has not arrived after eight days please email: covidstafftesting@uhcw.nhs.uk stating the name and DOB of the individual tested.
Please do not chase your result by calling your registered GP or the lab.
Remember that consent forms printed off when you book your test need to be given to your employing organisation to be kept in your HR Record, see further detail in the table below:
Staff Group Consent form to be kept by:
Staff and GPs employed by Practice GP Practice employee HR record
SWGP Fed and GP Alliance Locums Employing organisation

Blood samples need to be on a transport to the lab on the same day they are taken to ensure integrity of the sample. When registering, it is really important to include your accurate details, including full name – these are being matched to the lab records to ensure that right result is being sent to the right person and to the correct registered GP. If these details are not correct your test result may be delayed or void.
To date, up to and including 20 July, 1533 antibody tests have processed. 1524 results have been shared with 13.1% have the antibody detected.
Finally, for full details on how to request an antibody test follow this link www.cwcovid.support

3. Changes to Myton Services - email from Ruth Freeman – CEO
Here at Myton, like everyone else, we are planning for the future post Covid- 19 and by the end of August we will be in a position to discuss our thinking with you. I am conscious however, that you may become aware of some proposed changes before we are in a position to share them with you so I have below provided a brief interim update that I hope will be helpful.
In April this year Myton were experiencing severe staffing shortages due to vacancies and sickness, a situation which began to rapidly worsen as those in vulnerable groups adhered to shielding guidance and it soon became apparent that we would be unable to run our two in-patient units effectively or safely. In discussions with Warwick Hospital, therefore, we decided to temporarily hand over the unit in Warwick to the hospital to help with the local response to the pandemic.
This meant we moved our entire In- patient operation to our Coventry site at which we increased the number of available beds to a maximum of 20. Since we made the move we have continued to take patients from across Coventry and Warwickshire and our team have consequently been very busy.
The plan is for Myton to move back into the Warwick unit in September and we are currently running a recruitment campaign so that we can be ready to start taking patients there as soon as possible.
The impact of the pandemic on Myton has been significant. The lockdown has had a huge impact on our ability to raise voluntary funds and we anticipate the losses could be as much as £ 1- 1.5 million. Even now as the restrictions are lessened the future is uncertain and we will only know the full impact of the pandemic many months if not years from now.
What is clear is that Myton has to make some changes if we are to ensure that our service delivery is protected for the future. This means re-shaping the way we run some parts of our organisation a process we have just begun. It’s important to say at this point that we are not looking to reduce the number of patients we support, in fact we are hoping that our reach will increase by implementing the lessons we learned during the pandemic and by doing a number of things differently.
Change is always challenging and this is going to be a difficult time for our staff directly affected. We have just started a consultation process which will come to an end on the 15th August 2020 after which time we will be able to talk about our plans with the wider community. Until then as this is going to be a sensitive time could I ask that if you have any questions or concerns you direct them personally to me.
Kind Regards
Ruth Freeman
Chief Executive
